An updated website plays a crucial role in boosting membership and engagement for associations. Your website has only a few seconds to attract a visitor’s interest, make a good impression, and provide a great experience. Is it doing all it could be doing in that short period of time?

I’ve picked the top ten homepages which have gone through the redesign process in 2020. Let’s take a look at how they were before the redesign and how they look now.
Before
With more than half of website traffic coming from mobile devices, it’s imperative that your website is mobile responsive. These first examples are customers that were looking to improve their user experience with a mobile responsive website. In addition, they were looking to increase engagement through intuitive navigation and prominent call to actions (CTAs) while building brand trust.
After
First and foremost, the YourMembership design team moved these websites to a mobile responsive template allowing all their users to access their websites from any device. Navigation is the cornerstone of usability. Next, the navigation was made more prominent and the structure of content was laid out for increased clicks. Calls to action were optimized to draw members and prospects into action. The use of high-quality images and branding was increased to accent areas of importance on homepage.
With every website redesign, the YourMembership design team uses website design best practices. One of those best practices utilized is to place content with consideration to hierarchy. Visual hierarchy is how your site presents elements that will imply importance to your prospects and members.
These homepage redesigns have contributed to an increased conversion rates and higher member and prospect engagement.

Your website reflects your organization and is a vehicle to build brand trust. These five YourMembership customers wanted to capitalize on their brand and increase their usage of impactful imagery. These customers also came to YourMembership to utilize design elements to capture the attention of new and existing members for increased engagement.
After
The YourMembership design team worked with the customers to understand their needs and implement a customized layout with more intentional use of branding to accent ‘action items’. Having intuitive navigation and compelling CTAs is key to increasing engagement. A new navigation was built and created dedicated sections for call to actions to stand out.
As with all website redesigns, the YourMembership design team utilized website design best practices. One best practice used with these customers was the usage of white space. White space gives the design balance and enables visitors to easily read without feeling overwhelmed. White space doesn’t always mean the color white, it could include color and images. It is the margin or padding around particular elements to create that balance and legibility.
After launching their new redesigned website, these five YourMembership customers experienced more engagement on their website. Ultimately, leading to an increase in conversion rates on their homepage.
