Search Engines and Social Media. Your questions answered.

by | Sep 4, 2014 | Industry News & Trends

Last week we held our monthly Thought Leadership webinar, Search Engines and Social Media. Are you playing hard to get?. We had many association professionals attend who are still working to come up with a winning strategy regarding search engine optimization (SEO) and social media. When implemented correctly they can enhance association marketing efforts and drive more engagement with both current members and prospective members.

It has been said on many occasions that SEO is a science, and I do agree with that to a point. Despite the complexity, Joey Baird, YourMembership’s Director of Marketing, took a back to basics look at SEO and social marketing and shared strategies and best practices you can implement today.

During the webinar we learned that almost half of those attending spend little or no time using SEO to optimize their online marketing efforts, while more than 40 percent update their websites weekly. With social media, more than 90 percent use Facebook for their social media efforts, with Twitter and LinkedIn following in second and third place.

As technology continues to drive change, the need to develop a strategy focused on your SEO and social media efforts has never been more important. To remain relevant and effectively market to the new generations of members, developing a basic understanding of and utilizing this technology will help your organization find greater success.

There were a number of great questions asked during the webinar that we could not get to due to lack of time. So in this episode of Ask the Thought Leader, we answer those questions and look at strategies and best practices you should consider for your organization’s SEO and social media efforts.
