New Year, New Technology?

by | Jan 5, 2012 | Industry News & Trends

January is here, ring in the new! We make promises to ourselves about what we’ll do differently and how we’ll improve. This time of year always feels like a magic reset button has been pressed (at least for the first few days anyway). It’s an excellent time to reevaluate the technology you’re using. The goal behind technology, as I’ve written in past posts, is to simplify your daily tasks. Sure, many of us choose to purchase technology because we want to be the first with some cool gadget or we find a device that allows us to play Angry Birds anywhere we want, but the primary goal should be making us more efficient. Notice, I didn’t write “have more free time” as it seems the moment we streamline one process there’s another activity that requires our attention and fills that newly-formed gap.

January is technology month here at the YourMembership.com blog. (Of course, technology is on our minds every day because that’s what we do.) But this month we’re going to focus our blog topics around all things technology such as trends versus fads, the cloud, what’s new, what’s ready to be sunsetted, mobile, investing in tech and return on, and more. Our posts will be geared to exploring the gadgets, software and apps that can make us more efficient (in addition to our fantastic software, of course). It’s bound to be an exciting month and I hope you’ll subscribe so you don’t miss any part of the discussion. And if you’ve read my earlier blog post on 12 in ’12, you know that I am committing to a blog post a day for the month of January. So…

If there’s a technology question or issue you’ve been thinking about, please leave it as a comment below (Better yet, let’s learn together. If you’d like to write a guest post, ping me with your idea at csmith@yourmembership.com.) Tomorrow’s Friday Fix blog post will be about technology and social media.
