National Philanthropy Day celebrates and honors the differences made by philanthropy. It’s a time to reflect on the meaning of giving – of all that’s been accomplished and all that’s left to do. This year, the Association of Fundraising Professionals and Learning to Give have created lessons for children and their educators to help explain the importance of philanthropy. Empowering young people to make a difference provides them with a broader understanding of what it means to be part of a community as well as gives them an appreciation for what they have.
Philanthropy is as much about time as it is money. Charities across the world need our help more so than ever before as the needs have increased exponentially and resources are stretched to cover this increase in need. If you’re able, please consider getting involved – whether it’s through mentoring, volunteering, donating or even showing your support through social media. Offering your services to help them spread the word about their cause can be of great benefit as well.
