As I mentioned last time, Learning Management Systems, and e-Learning in general, are hot topics for many associations as they look to keep up with their members’ growing professional development needs, and the disruptive innovations and the players driving change in this dynamic market.
We recently held our Monthly Thought Leadership webinar entitled 5 Must Haves for Your Association’s eLearning Efforts, with Tina Turner, from YM Learning, sharing her views on some of the advances in technology that have made implementing a Learning Management System (LMS) affordable for associations.
Tina was able to identify some excellent ideas and tips on how to take those first steps to select and implement an LMS for your association. Many of them could prove extremely valuable, saving you time and money when you are ready to being the selection process. But at the heart of her presentation she identified five “must haves” when considering the formation of an e-Learning program or strategy. They were:
- Get Informed
- Be Creative Learners
- Get Curious
- Build an Open System
- Iterate & Adapt
She went into great detail on each of these five points.
Tina and I met once more this week to dig a little deeper into some of the concepts discussed during the webinar, as well as answer some of the questions submitted by our attendees. It was a fascinating half hour discussion which makes up Episode 18 of Ask the Thought Leader. You can watch it below.
And while I’ve got you here, I want to invite you to attend our Monthly Thought Leadership Webinar, on August 19th titled Big Bang Disruption: 5 Technologies/Trends That Should Be On Your Radar. We will be joined by Kathie Pugaczewski, CAE, CMP, Vice President of Professional Development for Ewald Consulting, as she discusses disruptive technologies and trends every association should be aware of and have a plan to address. I hope you can join us.
