One of the first questions we often get is... "how can you make your community so affordable?" It's all in the technology – and a great in-house team of developers, customer service specialists and designers who strive to provide the most robust online community with the best customer service in the industry.

Enterprise Application Connectivity

All communities reside in our own Network Operations Center (NOC), located within our headquarters in the Tampa Bay area. The NOC is designed to deliver enterprise availability, performance and uptime. Our primary NOC synchronizes with our geographically dispersed redundant secondary NOC in Chicago, IL. Our secondary NOC acts as a warm standby in the highly unlikely event of a failure, though our historic uptime at our primary facility exceeds 99.9 percent.

Primary NOC Overview:
  • Connectivity provided by multiple providers with OC3 and OC48 fiber lines running BGP.
  • Protected by Cisco PIX Firewalls and Intrusion Detection systems (IDSes). Attempts at intrusions are reported to the local (Tampa) FBI office.
  • Liebert climate control systems keep the NOC at optimal temperature.
  • Line (power) conditioning is performed by high-end APC backup units.
  • Redundant power is provided by a Diesel Caterpillar generator connected via real-time transfer switch for zero downtime in the event of primary power failure.
  • Perimeter security is provided by active monitoring service with 24/7 card-key access, video and audio monitoring.
  • Service-aware applications monitor all NOC components and notify our certified system engineers should issues occur.

Technology Platform & Infrastructure

The physical application (website community) is hosted on multiple load-balanced web, content and application servers with failover partners to help prevent downtime in the event of planned/un-planned maintenance or outages. The application's databases are hosted on Microsoft SQL servers clustered together to act as primary/secondary failover partners. Data on a failover partner is a maximum of 15 minutes old – any older and alerts are triggered and system engineers are notified.

The physical server and network hardware that powers the application is composed of purely Dell PowerEdge Servers along with Cisco Catalyst Switches. These servers are equipped with RAID technology to handle drive failures and multiple network interfaces for NIC failures.
